Gen Y , But Why

Gen Y , But Why

Expectations, Expectations, Expectations …

I learned to live with out expectations, in high school – i realized what is the point of getting your hopes up, and than being disappointed, when if you either A) keep your expectations low, or B) not have any at all – you will always end up happy !

This really began with my movie expectations – i truly over hyped every movie, and than was typically let down. I then thought, well if i don’t look too much into the movie – or just trust my friends and go see one’s they were in dire need to see – it should be good ! And hey ! it has worked … this led me to be more opened minded & take this mantra to other aspects of my life.

The article attached, although a long read, is a solid one. I think that all gen Y readers can relate, and if you’re older than that – you should read it as well to better understand us perfect angles.

We are brought up with the mentality WE ARE THE BEST – and nothing less ! We can achieve all & more than the American dream has to offer. Winning awards such as 6th place ( not me of course) as young kids gave us the confidence and perpetuated the mentality of an inflated self. We have social media filters & platforms to distort our personal image.

A commonality heard “whoa but he looks so different on facebook” ! well our social media imprints on the world may not directly reflect a clear vision. at the very least, people can edit & alter their photos to a wild extreme.

“Social media creates a world for Lucy where A) what everyone else is doing is very out in the open, B) most people present an inflated version of their own existence, and C) the people who chime in the most about their careers are usually those whose careers (or relationships) are going the best, while struggling people tend not to broadcast their situation.  This leaves Lucy feeling, incorrectly, like everyone else is doing really well, only adding to her misery:”

Social media has made the world a much more open place … watch out for what you are looking to uncover.

TWiTTER Going Public

TWiTTER Going Public

When i was enrolled in a School of Information class in 2009 I never knew what this “Twitter” would evolve into … we were assigned to select a new social platform and build a business model for it. Twitter was pretty new and very unfamiliar to almost all of my peers. I felt i was on the fore front of a large discovery – the big game changer of social media and the way we now receive our news … forever.

Twitter , originally debuted with a format of 140 characters shared per “tweet” – as this format still stands today, there are in fact ways around it. Every single celebrity out there, athlete , news anchor and teenie bopper holds twitter accounts – the way in which audience and trends are measure have been changed forever by the # symbol.

It is nearly impossible to watch a television program with out the screen displaying a @The Person hosting the show, or #ShowsTitle – this was an idea i had in my head back in the day but no one i spoke with could get past the new verbage … !

I aspired to be the one to revolutionize the NBA and its media team – go team by team and work with them on getting each player up-to-date with their own Twitter Handle & Account. In addition to each team having a play by play update via twitter during games … how cool ! I wish this had been me, just about every time I see the @ or # on the screen.

Verified Accounts have evolved – separating the ordinary from extraordinary – what does it take to be a verified account? i’m not quite sure … but they now have a special platform when a verified user logs in. There is a new function for verified users to better connect and respond to their “fans & followers”.

Whiskey and Women

Whiskey and Women

Whiskey … really you drink whiskey !! but your a girl – how many times do you think i’ve heard this … to many – like whats the deal with sexism and beverage choice – like is there a law i didn’t read that says certain sexes can only drink certain liquors?

does it really surprise you men, in the modern day, that a women MAY actually like GOOD things like you ?

I found this article rather interesting, in that it addresses that women do in fact enjoy whiskey …

I personally prefer it over vodka any day !!

Thigh High

Thigh High

In a super image saturated world we live in , your eye balls do not know where to look first ! Japan is a country with a surplus of advertising – but they have taken their marketing to a new level…. RENTING OUT ADVERTISING SPACE ON LADIES THIGHS — simply because “this is where men look, it is an area that grabs their attention” – and the women are happily accepting compensation for a little leg space. They are told to wear mini skirts and high socks to draw more attention to the thigh area.

Weird – if you check out the link http://elitedaily.com/news/world/women-in-tokyo-are-selling-advertising-space-on-their-thighs-video/ than you can watch the video of what this weird new trend is looking like…

Don’t worry America – too FAT for this trend.
