Well even though I may be  bit late to the game , since the book won  TIME Magazine’s #1 Fiction Book of 2012 ,  i’m glad i got my at bat with it ! I didn’t want to read the book at first because I was worried it would be sad, it really wasn’t totally sad. Somewhat uplifting and a bit of insight what it is like to be a teenager with cancer. Being a teenager isn’t the easiest  and being in remission or having to walk around wearing an oxygen tank doesn’t make it any easier. The story is heart warming, truly, and might only make you cry once or twice depending how emotional you are of a person. It is an extremely quick read, for me , someone who does not divulge in full fledge books too often, this book me 69 pages deep the first time I sat down to start !

Recommended to me by two friends : the first just wanted to read the book before seeing the movie – i personally have no desire to see the movie or how this was put into production on screen. I’m not sure if it is due to the fact that I was a communications major and picked a part films angle by angle scene by scene but I have no interest in having this text brought to the big screen. I’ve heard the movie was lovely and the characters Hazel and Augustus we’re depicted fabulously … ! But the characters i’ve imagined in my head will do for me !

My second friend who recommended it to me shared with me that it would be a VERY quick read, which was true! She finished the book in less than 12 hours. She is a major reading gal though – I was lucky she provided me with the copy of the book 😀 I think this is the type of soft cover book you’d rather hold in your hand than read on a Kindle. There is somewhat of a disconnect to me when you read a book on a Kindle. Don’t get me wrong I’m obsessed with the ease and convenience of Amazon’s One- Click purchase feature.

The friend I recommended it to picked up a copy right away, the day after I had told her! She finished the book in a quick amount of time and texting me that she was hysterically crying & she said “Holy Shit!!! This is amazing” ! LOL I did not have the crying reaction, but maybe i’m not as sensitive and emotional as her. LOVE YOU.

I do recommend this to the female audience more so than the male audience but I am guessing more of my readers are female than male !

I got this little excerpt from the Amazon Website for purchasing the book  ” Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.”

I’m not surprised that millions of copies of this book have been sold, I think it really is a book everyone should read !!

The book won :
#1 New York Times Bestseller
#1 Wall Street Journal Bestseller
#1 USA Today Bestseller
#1 International Bestseller
#1 Indie Bestseller
